Nicholas Raymond Pessagno, 95, of Southern Pines, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at his home, with his family by his side.
Private family burial and military honors will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park, in Southern Pines.
He was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Oakland, Calif., to the late Joseph Pessagno and Marie Ferro Pessagno. Mr. Pessagno was a veteran of his country and served in the United States Navy. He was the co-owner of Interlocking Roof Tile Company in Fremont, Calif. Mr. Pessagno was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and maintaining his lawn to his standards.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Theresa Marie Pessagno; two sons, Nicholas Raymond Pessagno Jr. and wife, Neva, of Mesa, Ariz., and Larry Joseph Pessagno and wife, Lacy, of Aberdeen; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Angelo Pessagno and William Pessagno.
