Viola Davis, 82, of Raeford, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Davis was born Nov. 8, 1929. She worked as a devoted and compassionate registered nurse at McCain Hospital until her retirement in 1983.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Cape Fear Conference “B” Headquarters, Raeford. The body will lie in state at the Avery Freewill Baptist Church, Raeford, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Avery Freewill Baptist Church. There will be a public viewing from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Davis Jr.; a daughter, Cathy Davis, sons, Russell Davis (Brenda) and Daniel Davis (Gwendolyn); sisters, Martha Cameron, Mary Steele, Thelma Adams and Ollie Gore; sisters-in-law, Sallie Davis and Mary Kearns; five grandchildren; six great-grandchilden.
