Dewey Paul Russ, Sr., 84, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.
Dewey was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Bladen County, to the late William Henry Russ and Dovey Blanche Hester. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrl Estelle Rowe Kelso Russ.
He was a retired employee of the State of North Carolina, working as a printer in the copy room of Sandhills Community College. Dewey served in the U.S. Navy as a boatswains mate second class from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Dewey Paul Russ Jr.; two step-sons, John C. Kelso Jr. and William Joseph (Joe) Kelso; two stepdaughters, Lee Ann Storm and Mary Kay Reynolds; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest by his wife in Pinebluff Cemetery, Pinebluff.
