Evelyn W. Woodbury was born March 11, 1923, in Algona, Iowa, to Henry and Pearl Weber. The family moved to Corwith, Iowa, in 1932, where she completed grade school and high school. She attended Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa.
On Jan. 24, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Maynard B. Woodbury, in her parents’ home, and followed him on his assignments in World War II to London, Brussels, Washington, D.C., and Arlington, Va. She worked for the Department of Defense, Office of Public Affairs, until her retirement Nov. 5, 1976, then moved to Whispering Pines in 1978, where she was active in the women’s golf committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Frank Weber.
There will be no public ceremony. Interment will be at the Corwith Cemetery at a later date.
