Lucy Moorefield Mawyer, 78, of Southern Pines, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at her home.
Services will be held at a later date, in Lovingston, Va.
Born Sept. 27, 1934, in Farmville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mattie Moorefield.
Mrs. Mawyer was a radiation technician at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland. Mrs. Mawyer is survived by her son, Tony Mawyer and wife, Joni, of Whispering Pines, and grandson, Brandon, also of Whispering Pines.
