Shirley Vaughn, 81, of Southern Pines, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Manor Care.
A funeral service was held at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, in Southern Pines.
She was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Troy, N.Y., to the late Edward and Winifred Breen Vaughn. She attended a school of optometry and held an ophthalmologist’s assistant position until her retirement.
She is survived by her brothers, Col. Edward J. Vaughn and wife, Carolyn Chatfield Vaughn, of Southern Pines, and William J. Vaughn and wife, Betty Vaughn, of California.
