Laura Swank Benavitz, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, in Southern Pines.
She is survived by her son, Jim Swank and wife, Valerie, of Wilson; granddaughters, Michelle Montgomery and husband, Michael, of California, Laurie Klipfell and husband, Frank, of Colorado, Christine Platt and husband, Todd, of California, Deborah Helton, of Georgia, and Kimberly Swank and Steve Kiess, of Greenville; stepson, William C. Benavitz and wife, Rosemary, of Naples, Fla.; stepdaughter, Penelope Muelenaer and husband, Andre, of Roanoke Va.; step-grandchildren, Alex Benavitz, Evan Benavitz and Mary Grace Benavitz, all of Naples, Matthew Muelenaer, of Christiansburg, Va., Brian Muelenaer, of Arlington, Va., and Caroline Muelenaer, of Blacksburg, Va.; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elmcroft of Southern Pines for their superb care and the kindness they showed toward our mother. The staff of Aging Outreach Services provided care, comfort and loving attention over the past five years. Finally, we appreciated the skillful and compassionate medical care provided by Dr. Kathleen Letizia at Pinehurst Medical Clinic.
