Maxine Maness Vest, 83, of Carthage, went home to be with the Lord October 14, 2011, at Tara Plantation.
Born January 5, 1928, in Pinehurst, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. Maness Sr. and Zula Williams Maness. She was a faithful member of Trinity Bible Church and longtime employee of the Country Club of North Carolina from which she retired.
She is survived by her son, Melvin J. Vest Jr., of Apex; and her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Earl Horton, of Cowpens, S.C. She is also survived by four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and an adopted son, Jerry Morris, of Carthage.
Graveside services will be at Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, conducted by the Rev. Bill Maness and the Rev. Max Williams.
