Mary Estell Hibberd Wallace

Mary Estell Hibberd Wallace, 81, of Southern Pines, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Manor Care Rehabilitation Center, in Pinehurst.
Mary was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Indianapolis, to the late Mary and Joseph Hibberd. Her parents both passed away at an early age, and she was raised from age of 7 by her grandparents, Mary and William Reuter, of York, Pa. Mary graduated in 1948 from William Penn School, in York. She married Charles Wallace and they lived for many years in Langhorne, Pa. She was employed as a secretary for the Pennsylvania State Education Association at their offices in Newark, N.J. After retiring in 1995, the Wallaces moved to Southern Pines, where Mary was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Moore County Chapter of the DAR and the Moore Republican Women’s Club.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wallace. She is survived by her son, David Wallace, of Wappapello, Mo.; and her cousins, Mrs. Rae Hart of Pine Plains, N.Y., and William Reuter of Fort Pierce, Fla. She is cherished by many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
