John Stewart Hassell Jr., 68, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Mary Washington Hospital, in Fredericksburg, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at McDonalds Chapel Presbyterian Church, in Aberdeen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born May 3, 1943, he was a son of the late John and Mary Leonard Hassell, a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers veteran, and was an engineer for the Carmen Group in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hassell, of Fairfax, Va.; one son, John Stutts Hassell, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two brothers, Leonard Hassell, of Charlottesville, Va., and William Hassell, of Spartanburg, S.C.; four nieces; and one nephew.
