Clyde A. Smits, 72, of Pinehurst, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Peace Christian Reformed Church, South Holland, Ill. Burial, prior to the services, will be private, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, Ill. Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, South Holland, Ill.
Mr. Smits was a United States Coast Guard veteran.
He was the beloved husband of Myrtle Smits, nee Sinkey; loving father of Scott (Valerie) Smits, Victoria (Keith Sumey) Smits and Todd Smits; dear brother of Wendall (Beverly) Smits and Arlene (Ron) Buikema; and proud grandfather of Kyla, Caitlin, Shayna, Brenna, Andrew, Claire, Zach, Carson, Emma and Abigail.
