Mr. Robert Poole “Bobby” Byrd, 69, of Norman, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Hospice of Scotland County in Laurinburg.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Norman Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Charles (Chuck) Thompson and the Rev. Robert Carpenter.
Mr. Byrd was born December 13, 1941, in Montgomery County to George Thomas Byrd and Bessie Thompson Byrd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth Morgan, Margaret Rush and Betty Robinson; and by a brother, Edward Byrd.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley Thompson and husband, Claude, of Biscoe; and by a brother, Roger Byrd and wife, Ingrid, of Chaparral, N.M.
The family will see friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home in Candor and other times at the residence of Shirley Thompson, 220 Greene St., Biscoe.
