Marshall Eugene Beatty
Marshall Eugene Beatty, beloved husband of Barbara MacIntosh Beatty, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his new home in Penick Village.
Mr. Beatty was born in Pleasanton, Kan., to Grover Calvin Beatty and Ina Goss Beatty. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Wava Beatty.
Mr. Beatty moved to Washington, D.C., in 1940, and joined the United States Navy and worked with the War Department at the Pentagon with 20 years service to his country. He retired in 1986 from the Navy and moved to Pinehurst in 1991. He was an avid coin collector, golfer and wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was survived by his children, Greg Beatty and wife, Jean, of Ocean City, Md., Mark Beatty, of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren, Cheryl Foley, Marcie Sprouse, Scott Beatty and Ethan Beatty; his sister, Ruth Ringler; and his special sister-in-law, Wanda Jackson; and Barbara’s loving and caring daughters, Cathy Senter, of North Carolina, Cynthia Jepson, of Ohio, Lynda Schuen, of Michigan, and Marcia Baugh, of Uganda. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held by the family. There will be no visitation.
