Claudia Williams Carpenter, 78, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst, with her family by her bedside.
A graveside service celebrating Claudia’s life and the promise of eternal life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Pinebluff Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Proctor and the Rev. Don Ballenger officiating.
The daughter of Claude Washington Williams and Annie Mae Bullard Williams, Claudia was born May 14, 1933, in Cheraw, S.C. She moved to North Carolina as a child and graduated from Aberdeen High School. She was married to her high school sweetheart, John, for 60 years. They raised their family in Pinebluff.
Claudia worked as a secretary at Moore Memorial Hospital, Sandhills Community College, The Hayter Firm and Ives Memorial Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and taught ladies Bible study for many years. She adored the creation of beaches and lakes and embraced the importance of faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Barbara Collins, Harry Williams and Charles Williams.
Claudia leaves behind her loving husband, Johnny; their three children, Marsha Carpenter, of Cameron, Stephen Carpenter (Sandy), of Asheville, and Amy Heath (Dennis), of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, Amy Lynn, Wendy, John Stephen, Scott, Brad and Spencer; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the medical community at Reid Heart Center for their professional, compassionate care.
