W. Eleanor Woodward Moore

W. Eleanor Woodward Moore, 92, of Southern Pines, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at The Coventry of St. Joseph of the Pines.
A memorial service was held at at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, in Southern Pines, with the Rev. John Tampa officiating. Burial will be held at a later date, at Brookside Cemetery, in Watertown, N.Y., where she will be interred with her husband.
She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in New Haven, Conn., to the late Denton Lee Woodward and Weltha Eleanor Bacon Woodward. She graduated from Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing in 1940 with a degree as a registered nurse. She was regent of the Mohawk Chapter of the National Society DAR, Albany, N.Y.; regent Venice by the Sea Chapter DAC, Venice, Fla.; and more recently a member of 40 years of LeRay de Chaumont Chapter DAR, Cape Vincent, N.Y.; and a member of the Carolina Chapter DAR in Raleigh. Mrs. Moore and her husband were world travelers and resided in Nice and Aix en Province, France. They were 12- year residents of Belle Meade and summer residents of Chaumont, N.Y.
She is survived by two daughters, Constance M. Grahn and husband, William, of Cary, and Janet M. Kirby, of Durham; two sons, William E. Moore II and wife, Karen, of Fairport, N.Y., and Charles R. Moore and wife, Beth, of North Amity, Maine; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; and two step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Moore, in February 2011.
