Warren “Hawk” Gilchrist, of Vass, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Johnsonville A.M.E Zion Church, Cameron.
Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Fryes Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Vass.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne; four daughters, Alicia, Stephanie and Angie, of Vass, and LaFaye (Tyrone), of Jacksonville, Fla.; four brothers, Harold W. Gilchrist, of Cameron, Lewis C. Gilchrist, of Philadelphia, Ernest R. Gilchrist (Synetha), of Johns Creek, Ga., and Herbert L. Gilchrist (Natalie), of Conyers, Ga.; six sisters, Loretta G. Woodard, of Detroit, Clara G. Abron (John), of Stone Mountain, Ga., Joyce G. Fointno (Keith), of Seoul, South Korea, Valerie A. Gilchrist, of Cameron, Sonja G. Lewis (William), of Decatur, Ga., and Cheryl L. Gilchrist, of Morrisville; one uncle, Roosevelt Gilchrist (Louise), of Woodland, Callif; his mother-in-law, Odessa McLeod, of Vass; one sister-in-law, Priscilla Hart (Curtis), of Vass; four brothers-in-law, Willie McLeod, of Vass, James McLeod, of Southern Pines, Clarence McLeod, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Harold McLeod (Joyce), of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; one godson, Brian Chavis, of Vass; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
