Pearl A. Maness

Vera Pearl Allen Key Maness, of Robbins, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends she had touched in some significant way throughout her long, memorable life.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Brown’s Chapel Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Michael Parenti, the Rev. Gary Wasiner and the Rev. James Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Phillips Funeral Home, Star.
Those who were touched by her understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile, always kind words and loving spirit brought so much joy to her family and friends. Pearl gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved the Lord and her family with such great devotion. She will be greatly missed by all.
Pearl is survived by one daughter, Betty M. Sanders, of Robbins; four sons, Arnold Keith Key, of West End, James Elvin Maness, of Asheboro; Danny Ray Maness, of Halifax, and Tommy Rex Maness, of Robbins; sister, Tessie Greene, of Star; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one step-great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by husband Charles Earnest Key, in December 1949; husband Ray Elvin Maness, in 1993; parents, John Elsie and Mattie Bruce Allen; six sisters; and three brothers.
