WALKER
Merrill Marie West Walker, 85, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at St. Joseph of the Pines, in Southern Pines.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Ardmore Baptist Church, in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Walker was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Guilford County, to Thomas and Eva West. She graduated from Summerfield High School, in Summerfield, and lived most of her adult life in Winston-Salem. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church and was involved in many service ministries there. In her younger years, she taught Sunday school at Union Grove Baptist Church, in Oak Ridge. For many years, Mrs. Walker was employed by Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with family, friends and neighbors, and serving her community.
Mrs. Walker will be remembered as a wonderful, loving and devoted mother.
She is survived by three daughters, Wylie (Milt) Dillingham, of Greensboro, Sharon (Gary) Robinson, of Whispering Pines, and Susan (Randy) Buckland, of Glen Allen, Va.; grandchildren, Teresa Shaw, of Holly Springs, Matt Robinson, of Whispering Pines, Molly Robinson, of Raleigh, and Ryan Buckland, of Glen Allen; and great-grandchildren, Sam and Sophie Shaw, of Holly Springs.
