Jimmy Leighton Campbell, 75, of Cameron, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at New Home Baptist Church, in Vass, with Brother Jimmy Settles officiating. Burial will follow in Pineywood Baptist Church Cemetery, in Cameron. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, in Vass, and at other times at the home of Howard Campbell, 1128 Boys Camp Road, and/or Lucille Campbell, 1840 Line Road, Cameron.
Mr. Campbell was born May 20, 1936, in Moore County, to Dora Von Williamson and Claude Carson Campbell. He was a member of Pineywood Baptist Church and was a well-known musician in the Moore County area. He retired from the tool and die industry. Mr. Campbell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Campbell is survived by one daughter, June Jones, of Vass; three sons, Robert Campbell, of Vass, and Charles Edward Campbell and Harold Lee Campbell, of Cameron; two sisters, Alice Oakley and Shirley Blackman, of Cameron; three brothers, Howard Campbell and Marvin Campbell, of Cameron, and Ervin Campbell, of Carrollton, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Ring; and four brothers, Paul Campbell, Albert Campbell, John Campbell and Carl Campbell.
