The Rev. Bernard Leo Young, 74, of Southern Pines, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Care Center.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, in Southern Pines, with Monsignor Jeffrey A. Ingham officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Father Young was born Jan. 30, 1936, in Pittsburgh, to the late Jacob Young and Mary Leginstein Young. He attended St. Francis University and received his Master’s in Divinity. He was a veteran of his country and served in the United States Air Force, and was a military chaplain.
He is survived by his brother, John Young and a sister, Helen Schager, of Chicago.
