Darwin G. Maness

Darwin G. Maness, 57, of Robbins, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Crossroads Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Holyfield officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home. 
A native of Moore County, he was a son of the late Wilmer and Edith Shelton Maness. He was a graduate of North Moore High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He received an associate’s degree in business at Montgomery Community College and an associate’s degree in auto body repair at Sandhills Community College. He owned and operated Maness’ Body Shop in Robbins from 1983-1995. He worked as an auto body instructor at Sandhills Community College and recently had become the department chair for the Automotive Department.
He was a member of the Robbins Rescue Squad for more than 30 years and an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved God, his family and his Harley-Davidson. 
He was preceded in death by a sister, Winnie Pierce, of Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Susan M. Maness; sons Chris Maness, of Robbins, and Rodney Maness and wife, Rhonda, of Robbins; brothers Gordon Ray and wife, Pat, of Seagrove, Gray Maness, of Robbins, and Merritt Maness and wife, Judy, of Robbins; and two grandchildren, Madison and Tristan.
