Ruth Keener Stevens, 95, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at St. Joseph of the Pines.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April, 2, at the Belle Meade chapel, in Southern Pines, with the Rev. Carl Naylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Ruth was born Nov. 17, 1915, to Bishop Marvin and Julia Fulton Keener, in Birmingham, Ala. She was married Dec. 19, 1941, to William Charles Stevens, who predeceased her in 2000. The Stevenses were former residents of Carolina Trace in Sanford and for many years were active in the Temple Theatre.
She is survived by sons Mark Stevens, of Cleveland, Ohio, and William Stevens Jr. and wife, Ann, of Charleston, S.C.; grandsons Jonathan Stevens and wife, Susan, of Atlanta, and Geoffrey Stevens and wife, Suzanne, of Pittsboro; and great-grandchildren Brooke, Kara and Charlie Stevens.
