John Duncan “JD” Medlin, 86, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Crossroads Community Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the church, and other times at the home of Lana Shaw, 181 Youngs Road, Vass.
JD spent his life as a devoted and beloved husband and father. He worked in construction for over 40 years, and a large portion of that was with Sandavis Construction.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Pauline Belton Medlin. He is survived by his six children, Lana Shaw and her late husband, Jerry, Donnie Medlin and his wife, Linda, Deborah Bibey and her husband, David, Joyce Maness and her husband, David, Donna Myrick and her husband, Tim, and Jeff Medlin and his wife, Angie; 10 grandchildren, Tonia Shaw, Stormy Cole, Carmen Coleman, Christy Hardy, Misty Schillawski, Johnathon Osborn, Evin Myrick, and Shane, Tucker and Riley Medlin; seven great-grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Cole, Trenton Coleman, Danielle, Brook and Luke Hardy, and Cassie Schillawski; and two great-great grandchildren, Kyle Ring and Ava Cole.
