Dorothy E. McClure
Dorothy “Dottie” Evelyn McClure, 88, of Newnan, Ga., passed away peacefully Friday, March 25, 2011, at Corinth Road Assisted Living, in Newnan, Ga.
Dorothy, who had resided in Pinehurst for the past 36 years, relocated to Georgia in 2009 to be near her son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Maryleigh.
She was born and raised near Tampa, Fla., in 1922. Her parents, Hope and Gordon Love, operated a small farm, where they raised peanuts and corn.
Dorothy married Robert McClure in 1946 at the close of World War II, in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was preceded in death by Robert, who died in 1993 at the age of 72.
Robert and Dorothy first lived in Cleveland, Ohio, after they were married, then moved to Pittsburgh in 1953, where they lived until 1975 before relocating to Pinehurst.
Dorothy will be remembered fondly for her fun-loving, zestful attitude toward life.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert, 62, of Atlanta, Stephen, 60, of Pittsburgh, and Jeff, 58, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
