Rosemary Sharpe
Rosemary Sharp, 79, a longtime Pinehurst resident, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, in Jackson, Miss., with family members by her side.
Rosemary was born March 25, 1931, in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, England. She followed her life-long love, G.A. “Tony” Sharp, to the United States in 1972. They subsequently became U.S. citizens and retired to Pinehurst in 1980. Until their late 60s, much of their social life revolved around golf and the Pinehurst community. Earlier in her life she had been an accomplished pianist and painter.
Above all, Rosemary was a devoted, loving and supportive wife to Tony during their 52-year romance. They had four children, all surviving: Penny, of Hereford, England; Michael, of Christchurch, New Zealand; and two sons in the U.S., David, in Lancaster, Ohio, and Peter, in Jackson, Miss. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; a sister, Pat; and a brother, Fred.
She was preceded in death by Tony; and a grandson, Simon.
Rosemary will be remembered by her church congregation during regular services on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Donations may be sent to Community Presbyterian Church, Pinehurst, NC 28370.
