Mary B. Strang
Mary Bosworth Strang, 84, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Palm Terrace Nursing Center, in California.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the chapel of First Baptist Church, Aberdeen. A private burial service will take place at Doubs Chapel Church Cemetery, Carthage, with the Rev. C.S. “Skip” Wood and the Rev. Mike Branscome officiating.
She was a secretary at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif., for many years. She volunteered as a tax preparer at the Florence Sylvester Senior Center and was an active member of the Eastern Star, serving as a past worth matron of her chapter. Mary enjoyed reading, and will be remembered for her gentle acts of kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Sallie Bosworth; a brother, Ollie Bosworth; her husband, Richard “Dick” Strang; and a son, Gerald Strang. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Haddad, of Hobbs, N.M.; a granddaughter, Jessica Heberlein, of Hobbs; a grandson, Michael Henry, of Crescent City, Calif.; her sisters, Marjorie Bosworth, of Aberdeen, Polly Wood and her husband, C.S. “Skip,” of Dearborn, Mich.; and her brother, Ray Bosworth and his wife, Frances, of Aberdeen. Mary had a deep love for her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
