Dorothy R. Purvis

Dorothy “Dot” Robinson Purvis, 83, of Bennett, died Thursday, March, 24, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A graveside funeral service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Neal Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Joyce-Brady Chapel, and at other times at the home of Ethan and Brenda Gilliland, 2675 Bernard Purvis Road, Bennett.
Mrs. Purvis was a Gaston County native and was the daughter of the late Arther L. “Pop” and Mary Summey Robinson. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was retired from Collins and Aikman in Siler City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Purvis; sons, Joe, Larry and Boyd; a daughter, Cindy Shaw; and two brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda Gilliland and husband, Ethan, of Bennett, and Janet Clark and husband, Harold, of Whispering Pines; brother Charles “Buddy” Robinson, of Robbins; sister Lorena Brown, of Robbins; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
