James D. Carroll
James Donald Carroll, 66, of Aberdeen, passed Friday, March 4, 2011, at his residence.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Pinebluff Cemetery, in Pinebluff, with the Rev. Dennis M. Patterson officiating. A visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines.
Mr. Carroll was born April 8, 1944, in Lee County, to the late Haywood William Carroll and Mary Lou Donathan Carroll. He was a lifelong Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He raced and worked on various motorcycles over the years. He was the first mechanic employed at Sandhill Cycle, based in Moore County, many years ago. He enjoyed playing pool and some could say achieved a very high status as a pool shark. On the other hand, he was also a very loving and caring man would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Mr. Carroll loved his daughter, grandchildren, niece Allison, great-niece Ashley and close friend Lisa, who cared for him in his final days.
Mr. Carroll is survived by two daughters, Jamie D. Carroll, of Aberdeen, and Pam Carroll Agic; a son, Jim Carroll, of South Carolina; two brothers, Hassell William Carroll and wife, Doris, of Morehead City, and Robert Wayne Carroll and wife, Betty, of Lillington; two sisters, Mary Lee McGovern, of Aberdeen, and Evelyn Jean Morgan, of Aberdeen; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Carroll, in 1989; and a sister, Ruby Ann Jenkins
