Mackie Louise Pate Johnson
Mackie Louise Pate Johnson, 67, of Laurinburg, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Beaver Dam Cemetery, in McColl, S.C. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Richard Boles Funeral Service, in Laurinburg.
Mackie was born Nov. 7, 1943, in Bedford, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Mack Neal Pate and Margaret Louise Sweatt Pate Hinson, and stepdaughter of Everette Hinson Sr. Mackie was the secretary for J.P. Locklear Jr. Farms until retiring due to her illness after 12 years of dedicated service. She was a precious and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, James David Pate, Raeford Hinson and Everette “Dick” Hinson Jr.
She is survived by her children, Alex Shoemake, of Jacksonville, Fla., Karen Chavis, of Laurinburg, Rob Shoemake and wife, Kellie, of West End, and Christa Marcano and husband, Sal, of Laurinburg; her father, Everette Hinson Sr.; sister, Shirley Goodwin and husband, Charles, of Laurel Hill; sister-in-law, Jane Hinson, of Gibson; nine grandchildren, Brandie Strickland, Ashley Carnes, Kristen Chavis, Laura Chavis, Nolan Shoemake, Michael Shoemake, Daly Marcano, Currey Marcano and Tristen Shoemake; seven great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, J.P. Locklear Jr., of Laurinburg.
