Loren L. Thompson

Loren L. Thompson, M.D., 89, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines, with interment to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
He was born April 6, 1921, in Madison, Minn. He graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., in 1943 and Marquette Medical School in Milwaukee, Wisc., in 1946. He lived in Green Bay, Wisc., from 1958–1988 and worked as a radiologist at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He served as president of the Wisconsin Radiological Society in 1978. He retired to Pinehurst in 1988, where he lived for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife Janet R. Thompson; four children and their spouses, Karen, Gail and her husband, Don, Loren and his wife, Charlotte, and Jim and his wife, Lana; six grandchildren Sarah, Matt, Alissa, Lucas, Conor and Regan. Loren was the oldest of 11 children: Elda, Ardell, Phyllis, Joyce, Dale, Eloise, Dwain, Deanne, Paul and Linda, and was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis.
