Joyce A. Zang

Joyce A. Zang, of Southern Pines, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at her home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Boles Funeral Home and Crematory, in Southern Pines. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Pinelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, in Southern Pines.
She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Henry County, Ohio, the daughter of Hazel and Orval Brinkman. She graduated from Holgate High School in 1953 and soon after moved to Toledo, Ohio. She found employment at the Champion Spark Plug Co., and while there met Robert Zang. They began dating and married May 15, 1965. Several years later, she retired and became active in volunteer work. She was at the Ohio Medical College Hospital in Toledo, and became a member of their board. Later, when Mr. Zang retired, they moved to Phoenix, and she again volunteered at the John C. Lincoln Hospital, and again became a member of the board.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; sister, Gladys Leaders, of Defiance, Ohio; and eight nieces and nephews.
