Howard Buford Kivett, 82, of Liberty, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at UNC Hospitals, in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Faith Baptist Church, in Ramseur, with the Rev. Gary Moger and the Rev. John Gunter officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, and other times at the home of his son, Bobby Kivett, 7341 Ferguson Road, Liberty.
Mr. Kivett was a true lover of life who loved his wife, children and grandchildren. His generous spirit will be greatly missed by all. He was a native of Randolph County and attended Faith Baptist Church in Ramseur. He served in the Army in the Korean conflict. Mr. Kivett was a retired manager for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conversation Service.
He is survived by his wife, Edna W. Kivett, of the home; sons, Richard A. “Rick” Kivett, of Liberty, and Robert H. “Bobby” Kivett and wife, Maridee, of Liberty; sister, Clara Lou Ferguson, of Liberty; brother, Hayworth Kivett, of Liberty; grandchildren, Justin Kivett, Travis Kivett and Courtney Kivett; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn Kivett, Rebekah Kivett, Aubrianna Kivett and Emma Kivett.
