Robert Lyman Ellis, 86, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
No local services will be held. Interment will be at Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, Pittsford, N.Y., at a later date.
He was born May 8, 1925, in Oswego, N.Y., to the late Orva Jane Schoonerman and Harold F. Ellis. He was a graduate of East Rochester High School in N.Y., a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy (radioman 2nd class), and received a two-year business administration certificate from the University of Rochester. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pittsford, a past member of the vestry, as well as junior and senior warden of the vestry. He was a past master of Penfield Union Lodge No. 154 (now Wakan-Hubbard Lodge) in Penfield, N.Y.; former owner and president of Sherwood Specialties Inc. in Rochester; member of Seven Lakes Country Club; member of Heisey Collectors of America Inc.; member of N.C. Heisey Study Group and president of the Florida Gulf Coast Heisey Study Group; and a longtime member of the National Cambridge Collectors.
