JERNIGAN

Laura Adams Jernigan, 61, of Cary, died peacefully July 18, 2011, at the Hospice Home at Hospice of Wake County, in Raleigh, following a long battle with cancer.
She held an A.A. from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, and a B.A. from Meredith College in Raleigh. Laura found joy in motherhood, gardening, photography, walking the beaches of the Outer Banks, and her cats.
She is survived by her husband, John R. (Ron) Jernigan; daughter, Jan Kleinert and husband, Cameron; son John A. Jernigan; granddaughter, Lily Kleinert; mother, Annette Adams; and siblings, Bobby Adams and Beth Mercer.
Per Laura’s wishes, close family members held a memorial on Saturday, July 23, at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen, followed by a celebration of her life at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club in Southern Pines, overlooking a scenic golf course near the home where she grew up.
