William R. “Sam” Prosser, 76, died Thursday, July 21, 2011.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Boles Funeral Home chapel, in Southern Pines. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Pinewild Country Club, 6 Glasgow Dr., Pinehurst.
Sam was born in Akron, Ohio, Sept. 18, 1934, to the late William and Mary Prosser. He graduated from Denison University in 1956, where he was an active member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He spent most of his professional life in the publishing industry.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, whose memory will live on in those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nanette; two children, Matthew Prosser, of Clinton, Conn., and Michelle Ingersoll, of Houston; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Lindsay, Edwin and Kelly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances “Pat” Powers, of Rochester, N.Y.
