Dorothy Warlick Harbour
Dorothy Warlick Harbour, 85, of Cameron died Friday July, 22, 2011, at Foxhollow Assisted Living Center in Pinehurst after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Cameron United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Johnson and Pastor Archie Stevens officiating.
Burial will follow at Cameron cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the fellowship hall and after the service at the family home at 2792 N.C. 24/27 in Cameron.
“Dot” was born on August 15, 1925, in Kings Mountain, to the late D. H. and Eunice Randell Warlick. After high school, she worked with the Seaboard Railroad where she met her husband, the late Kent B. Harbour, of Moore County. The couple resided in Cameron for more than 50 years.
Dot was a homemaker and helpmate to Kent in his various businesses and gardening endeavors. She was an expert seamstress and among her various projects were quilts and many Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, which she presented to relatives and friends upon the birth of children. She was a long-time member of Cameron United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Harbour is survived by daughters, Vanessa Lowder and husband, Warren, of Greensboro, and Peggy Sue Zubay and husband, Peter, of Cameron; grandsons, Matthew Lowder and Thad Lowder; granddaughter, Jessica Buday; and sisters, Joyce Spinks, Faye Bridges and Rachel Todd; brothers-in-law, Hayes Harbour and wife, Doris Jean, Earl Harbour and wife, Juanita, and William Harbour and wife, Pat.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Harbour is preceded in death by brothers, Lewis Warlick, John Warlick, Frank Warlick; and a sister, Melba Hendrick.
