David R. Hendrix

David R. Hendrix, 75, of Whispering Pines, passed Thursday, July 21, 2011, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday July 25, at the Boles Funeral Home chapel, in Pinehurst, with the Rev. Jim Langford officiating.
Mr. Hendrix was born May 31, 1936, in Baltimore, to the late Roscoe and Ruth (Lawson) Hendrix. He was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He went on to work for IBM for more than 30 years in positions in sales, education and finance. Mr. Hendrix worked as a contract consultant in the Research Triangle Park for five years.
After retiring in 1989 in White Plains, N.Y., Mr. Hendrix moved to Pinehurst, where he served on the governors’ board for six years at the Member’s Club.
In 2000, Mr. Hendrix moved to Whispering Pines, where he enjoyed playing golf and computer work.
Mr. Hendrix is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty (Spalding) Hendrix; two sons, Mark Hendrix and wife, Leslie, of Columbus, Texas, and Keith Hendrix and wife, Ellen, of Bristol, R.I.; five grandchildren, David and John Hendrix, of Columbus, and Douglas, William and Katherine, of Bristol; and a sister, Ruth Anne Halada, of Timonium, Md.
