Mary Sessoms McInnis, 90, of Aberdeen, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Kingswood Nursing Center, in Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, in Aberdeen, with the Rev. Jonathon Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park, in Southern Pines. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church parlor.
She was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Scotland County, to the late Norman H. Sessoms and Amanda Hatcher Sessoms. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to all who knew her. She was a longtime active and dedicated member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, where she very much loved being a part of all church activities. She was loved by all who knew her, as she was a passionate caregiver to those she met. She retired from Peebles department store.
She is survived by a daughter, Sybil Tyndall and husband, Larry, of Aberdeen; two sisters, Betty Morgan, of Southern Pines, and Peggy Ragland and husband, Ray, of Amherst, Va.; a brother, Alexander “Buddy” Sessoms and wife, Wyona, of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Randy Baker, Debbie Alston, Michael Baker and Pamela Stancell; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy McInnis, in 2004; a daughter, Jean Koch; and a granddaughter, Kathy Bosworth.
