David Strawson

David Strawson, 76, of Pinehurst, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Darnestown Presbyterian Church, Darnesville, Md. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He worked for MPR Associates for 32 years as a nuclear engineer and was recognized by his peers as one of the leading engineers in the U.S. nuclear industry. Notably, he designed water cleanup and containment systems successfully used in the cleanup of Three Mile Island.
He loved water and animals, and he and his wife enjoyed traveling to many countries. After retiring, David became an avid croquet player and had more time for his love of traveling. His beloved destination spots were Vinalhaven, Maine, and Bald Head Island.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Button Strawson. He is survived by his daughters, Joan Strawson, Ann (John) Jacob and Barbara Strawson (Brian Scrivens); granddaughters, Molly and Sara Jacob; brother, Fred Strawson; and sisters, Mary Ellen Ross and Jean Tenny.
