Charles P. Levinger Jr.
Charles Patrick Levinger Jr., 86, of Seven Lakes, passed Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Boles Funeral Home, in Seven Lakes. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, in Pinehurst, with the Rev. Gregory Anatuanya officiating. Rite of committal will be private, in Seven Lakes Cemetery, at a later date.
Mr. Levinger was born April 9, 1925, in Rochester, Pa., to the late Charles Levinger, Sr. and Letitia (Walsh) Levinger. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Seven Lakes Marine Detachment. His name appears on the Moore County Veterans Memorial in Carthage.
Mr. Levinger resided in Seven Lakes for the past 24 years and was a member of such groups as the Seven Lakes Landowners Association, Seven Lakes Civic Group, Seven Lakes Romeos and the Seven Lakes Country Club, where he received recognition in the Hole-in-One Club. He was a member of the Republican Men’s Club, the English-Speaking Union Sandhills branch, Arts Council of Moore County and the Weymouth Center for Arts and Humanities. He was also at one time a member of the Moore County Water and Sewer Authority and chairman of the board for Pinetree Industries, once located in West End. He served as a chairman for the Sacred Heart Bishops Annual Appeal.
Mr. Levinger was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Gene Levinger, in 2005; a brother, Richard Levinger; and sisters, Marguerite Levinger, Helen Levinger and Elizabeth Koehler.
He is survived by two sons, Chuck Levinger Jr. and wife, Fran, of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Rick Levinger and wife, Vikki, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Levinger, Dustin Levinger and fiancee, Lynn Gonzalez, and Lindsey Braley and husband, Chad; a great-granddaughter, Bergen Ann Braley; close personal friend, Lois Holt, of Southern Pines; and many nieces and nephews and numerous friends in the Seven Lakes area.
