Mary L. Cohen

Mary Louise Cohen, 79, of Carthage, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 3, 2011, at her home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, with Dr. Greg Poplin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the fellowship hall and at other times at the home of her sister Annie Page, 5403 Niagara-Carthage Road, Southern Pines.
Mrs. Cohen was born in Vass and worked as a registered nurse at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of Cameron Hill Presbyterian Church. She was the wife of the late Harry Cohen and the daughter of the late James and Georgia Riggsbee. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by two sons, Harry Cohen, of Carthage, and Daryl Cohen, of Raleigh; three sisters, Annie Page, of Southern Pines, Lois Bradley and husband, Larry, of Southern Pines, and Sandra Johnson and husband, Jerry, of Georgia; two brothers, James Riggsbee and wife, Nancy, of Traphill, and George Rosser Riggsbee and wife, Lola, of Randleman; sister-in-law Mina Riggsbee, of Mount Pleasant; two daughters-in-law, Melissa Cohen, of Carthage, and Kathy Cohen, of Clayton; five grandchildren, Jonathan Seawell, Bradley Cohen, Ashley Cohen, Emily Cohen and Walker Cohen; and lots of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by one son, “Teddy” James Cohen; one daughter, Susan Cohen Seawell; one sister, Grace Trudo; one brother, Hasty Riggsbee; and one grandchild, Christopher Seawell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The family has entrusted services to Cox Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, of Vass.
