Earl E. Babcock Sr.
Earl E. Babcock Sr., 75, of West End, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Cagle officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home.
A native of Illion, N.Y., he was the son of the late Howard and Mary Lewis Babcock. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and retired from the Rochester (N.Y.) Fire Department, Engine 4, Broad and Allen. He retired and moved to Moore County in 1989. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dupree Babcock; a daughter, Pamela Neerbasch and husband, David, of Rochester, N.Y.; two sons, Earl E. Babcock Jr., of Aberdeen, and James Babcock and wife, Phyllis, of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Howard Babcock, of Hilton, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
