Philip Alden Lewis, 80, of Vass, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Cox Memorial Funeral Home, Vass. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Norwich, Conn.
Born in 1930, Mr. Lewis was the son of the late Forest Tremble and Hazel Elizabeth Phillips Lewis. He was a Korean War veteran who retired from the United States Navy and later from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Norwich, Conn.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Ormord Lewis; one daughter, Diane Marie Wisniewski and husband, Joseph, of Pennsylvania; three sons, Richard Allen Puetz and wife, Kathy, of Hawaii, Dennis Arthur Lewis and wife, Kim, of Statesville, and Philip Alden Lewis Jr. and wife, Jacie, of Vass; special niece Linda Ellen Bruce, of Connecticut; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Lewis.
