Nancy Alma Cook Tillotson, 68, of Sanford, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eugene Ussery and the Rev. John Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the church and at other times at the home of her sister, Judy Collins, 1050 Ring Road, Carthage.
Born in 1942, Mrs. Tillotson was the daughter of the late Howard Taft and Mallie Taylor Cook. She was a hard-working and dedicated employee of Trion, GKN, and later Ingersoll-Rand, where she retired. She was extremely talented and creative, enjoyed a variety of hobbies, and was known for her caring and generous spirit. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church until her health made it difficult for her to attend.
Mrs. Tillotson is survived by her husband, J.H. “Bud” Tillotson; two sisters, Ann Frye and Judy Collins, both of Carthage; two brothers, Thomas Cook and Curtis Cook, both of Carthage; special sister-in-law, Marie Cook, of Carthage; and special brother-in-law, Wade Collins, also of Carthage; and her “baby,” her Chihuahua, Cheeto.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Collier, of Red Springs; and two brothers, Jimmy Cook and Allen Cook, both of Carthage.
