Judi Richardson Ackerman, 64, of Carthage, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at UNC Hospitals, in Chapel Hill.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Stalnaker officiating. The family received friends after the service with a reception in the church fellowship hall.
Judi spent more than 40 years as a nurse working in California, Virginia and Florida before retiring to North Carolina, where she continued to provide care to many friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Ackerman, of the home; step-mother, Lorraine Richardson, of Carthage; five sisters, Bonnie Garin, of Reston, Va., Betty Aldred, of Norge, Va., Carol Richardson, of Carthage, and Elaine Gouker and Patricia Plessinger, both of Robbins; a brother, James Richardson, of Sunset Harbor; and several nieces and nephews.
