May E. Flanagan

Mrs. May E. Flanagan, 86, of Pinehurst, died Thursday, Feb.10, 2011, following a long illness. She was the daughter of William and Emma Struss of Philadelphia, Pa.
May is survived by her husband, Thomas, of 53 years.
During her years in Philadelphia, she held the position of administrator for Dr. William T. Lemmon, chief of surgery, and his staff at the Jefferson Hospital, also the Woodbury Hospital in New Jersey.
Upon relocating to Los Angles, Calif., with her husband, she became active with various nonprofit organizations. She was a member of the advisory board for the Los Angles Orthopedic Hospital that assists children. May was board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood, Calif. In addition, she held the position of treasure for the California Women’s Assistance League of Los Angles for more than 12 years. She was an active member of the Wilshire Country Club of Los Angles.
During her years in Pinehurst, she was active with the monthly Women’s Group at Pinehurst Country Club.
A memorial service will be held in Philadelphia, Pa., at a later date.
