David Jesse Parker, 76, of Carthage, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at his residence.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Johnson Grove Cemetery, in Vass. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, in Candor.
A native of Moore County, he was born Oct. 5, 1934, the son of Joseph Brinkley and Hilda Williford Parker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a telephone lineman. He was a member of Vass Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra P. Franklin, of Robbins, and Deborah Jean Parker, of West End; a brother, Joseph Brinkley Parker Jr., of Vass; a sister, Eunice P. Stokes, of Pinehurst; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
