Ambrose Guy Patterson died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Tullahoma First Presbyterian Church, in Tullahoma, Tenn. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Moore Cortner Funeral Home, in Winchester, Tenn.
Known to many as “Guy,” the Rev. Patterson was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and grew up in Pineville, Ky. He graduated from Carson-Newman College and Southern Baptist Seminary, and retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service in Presbyterian Church USA, having served in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. Guy Patterson and Monnie Scalf Patterson.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Billie Stephenson Patterson; his daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Patterson and fiance, Josh Seth Pope, of Sevierville, Tenn., and Mary Carol Sheffield and husband, Samuel David Sheffield, of Cartersville, Ga.; his son, Andrew Guy Patterson and wife, Rachel Powers Patterson, of Pinehurst; and three grandchildren, Peyton Lynn Patterson, Margaret Adeline Sheffield and David Patterson Sheffield.
