Woodrow “Butch” Eldridge Jr., of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home with the Rev. Archie Stevens officiating.
He was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Moore County and grew up in Carthage. Butch was an Eagle Scout, served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam as an air traffic controller, and continued this work as a civilian, retiring as a chief instructor at the FAA Center in Oklahoma City. Butch loved life, women, firearms, cars, Las Vegas, Excalibur and “Let it Ride.” He was always true to his word.
He was predeceased by his parents, Woodrow Eldridge Sr. and Louise Callaway Eldridge; and younger brother, Tom Eldridge. His grandparents were William and Mary Eldridge, of Virginia, and Robert and Blanche Callaway, of Carthage.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary E. McKeithen, of Aberdeen, and Rachael Dowd, of Carthage; and brothers Oscar Eldridge, of Carthage, and Chris Eldridge, of California.
