Eldred Cirule

Eldred “Chris” Cirule, 87, of Pinehurst, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2011, at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at First Baptist Church in Pinehurst, where she was an active member, with the Rev. David Marks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial, with military honors, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, in Spring Lake.
A native of West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Christian and Florence Sparks Christian. She was a petty officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, she worked for Boontron Electronics in New Jersey, where she would later retire. She and her husband, Fred Cirule, also a Navy veteran of WW II whom she met while in the service, lived off and on in Florida before settling in Pinehurst in 1987.
Chris and her husband enjoyed traveling and photography. They toured Europe on many occasions and also visited most of the national parks in the United States. In Pinehurst she was a volunteer at Moore Regional Hospital for many years, giving over 3,000 hours of service. She provided handmade blankets for the newborn babies, and she and her husband would take pictures of the babies for the proud parents. She also enjoyed quilting and was a master gardener. She worked with Moore County 4-H, where she taught gardening to the children.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fred Cirule; a daughter, Linda Ryan, of Cranford, N.J.; a son, Donald Cirule, of Flanders, N.J.; and six grandchildren, William Ryan III, of Denver, Colo., David Ryan, of Cranford, N.J., Kathleen Ryan, of Verona, N.J., Tim Cirule, of Lake Hopatcong, N.J., Julie Cirule, of Jersey City, N.J., and Lauren Circule, of Flanders, N.J.
